Group 2
Internet addiction is excessive computer use that interferes with daily life. The internet has been changing every aspect of modern human life. As of 2011 more than 2.2 billion people—nearly a third of Earth's Human population—used the services of the Internet. Almost every young man and woman of this generation grew up with the internet. In South Korea , sixty-two percent of children about 3 to 5 years old use the internet more than 8 hours a week. According to official calculations, two hundred and one thousand children in South Korea have the problems of internet addiction. Some of the children spend about 18 hours online every day. Many countries in the world are worried about their young people for addiction on the internet.
The internet has changed people’s relationship to others, and it has even changed the way of thinking of human beings, but is it really good to us? In fact, people spend too much time on the internet and abandon interaction with friends and family. They enjoy making friends through the computer screens and are trapped in the digital world. They may not be able to handle the complex relationship of people as they turn back to the real world.
We have a survey on Wang Yu-hau and his friends about the over use of the internet as below:
<How many hours a day do you spend on the internet?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Are you short-sighted?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<What's your eye prescription?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Do you arrange your own schedule?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Do you complete your homework?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Do your friends play the same game as you?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Do you have less interaction with family because of the internet?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
<Are you eager to know what’s happening on the net when you are offline?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
According to results of the survey, Wang Yu-hau spent 12 hours a day at most on the net, and his short-sightedness was getting worse. Because he didn’t arrange his own schedule, he was just fooling around all day long. Playing the computer was the only thing he was interested in every day. All his time was used to play the computer, so he didn’t do his homework and his grades were getting worse. Wang-Yu-hau’s friends were the same as him.
In order to improve the problems of Wang Yu-hau and his friends’ internet over use, we’ve got some ideas for them as follows:
<Arrange your own schedule
<Do more outdoor activities
<Have more interaction with friends and family
<Do something you’re interested except playing computer
<Don’t put the computer in your reading room
<Take a break and close your eyes for five minutes when you use computer for one hour
<Spend less time on the internet
<Read more extracurricular books
We hope the ideas above could help them improve their problems.
Conclusions
Internet is convenient for our life, but if we spend too much time on the internet, it may lead us into a mental disorder. To resist temptation is not always an easy work, so we must remind ourselves all the time that never be trapped in the digital world of the internet and forget where you are and who you are in the real world.
