Happy 100th Birthday to R.O.C. 中華民國建國百年

Double Ten Day is the national day of Republic of China. The centenary of R.O. C. is an epochal event and our government has planned a series celebrations to welcome this important occasion. While fostering our sense of national identity, these celebrations also hopefully reveal Taiwan's development and construction to the people in Taiwan and the international community. On the official website "中華民國精彩一百" (http://taiwanroc100.tw/chinese/default.aspx), I found a series of celebrations pretty special and you might be interested to take a look at them.

The theme song for Republic of China Centennial,
<高聲唱>
<我們的一百年>

You can also know more about Taiwan through the eyes of our friends around the world

The celebration I found most creative and extraordinary is "Global Congratulations‧All Eyes @n Taiwan."
It's an international painting competition. 100 submissions by foreign nationals are selected and these paintings will be projected publicly on the wall of National Chiang-Kai-Shek Memorial Hall on the evenings of Octorber 10 and 11. This first prize goes to a 14-year-old Malaysian girl Goh Wern Sze. Here is her award-winning painting:

It's such a great pity that I can't see it in person. So, let's check out the news on the Internet:

The celebration usually starts with a raising of the Republic of China and a singing of our national anthem. The ceremony was also held in the Tainan City Hall, which is pretty near my house, but I am never an early bird and missed it this morning. The government's great celebration for this year reminded me that my elementary school art teacher always asked us to paint the national flag and she would hang up all the paintings on the bulletin board before Double Ten Day, trying to give the classroom a celebration touch. This is what the national flag looks like:

How do you feel about the theme songs and the celebrations? Which one do you find that interests you most?

3. "Some special show for Confucius"

Jhongsiao’s Activities on Teachers’ Day

In our school, Jhongsiao Junior High School, there are lots of activities on Teacher’s Day every year.
First, the students in grade one make the Teacher’s Day cards to their teachers whom taught them in elementary schools before. Then, these cards are sent to the elementary schools.
Second, the students in grade two make the Teacher Cards for their teachers whom are teaching them now. During this occasion, students give cards to their teacher.
Next, the students in grade three sing songs for their teachers. Because they are going to graduate, they probably want to keep a nice memory.
Last, on Teacher’s Day, our school praises the teachers whom have been teaching for several ten years. Students also give flowers to their teachers to thank them on Teacher’s Day.
How about England? Do you have Teacher’s Day, too?
